Whether you are seeking a stove that brings an earthy, rustic appeal to your home or one that is more contemporary and modern, there is bound to be a stove that fits your requirements. These modern designs are not only attractive, but also more efficient than traditional heating methods.
The proper stacking of logs is essential in preparing them to burn in a stove. This will ensure that they remain dry and ready to be burned. By leaving space between the logs and keeping their ends even facilitates airflow, which is crucial to ensure that your firewood dries effectively. In addition, protecting the wood from the elements by storing them under tarps or in specialized structures helps in drying and preserving their quality.
Round stacking is a well-known method to stack firewood. It is easy to use and looks great. Create a base by laying out three to four rows of treated 2x4s, or pallets. On the top of the base create a stack using end pillars by placing 3-4 pieces of wood side-by-side and another on the opposite side. Continue building pillars for up to 12 rows, making sure that there is plenty of space between each of them for air to move through the pile.
Then, use a center stake to keep the stack in place and start adding perpendicular pieces to the edges of the stack. Tie them together with string. Repeat this process until you reach the height of your wall. You can then fill in the interior with odd pieces and any that are too large for the outer rows. It is essential to keep in mind that indoor stacking requires a room with a lot of natural light and good airflow, as overcrowding a stack can lead to damp and moldy wood. The best indoor stacking space is usually an underground garage or basement.
